who controls youSoul Food-Who Controls You? This May Surprise You…

When I was younger, I had parents who fed me foods they thought would be good for me (or they could afford) & they chose clothes appropriate for me (hand-me-downs) to play in or go to school in (when age appropriate). I grew up the oldest of five girls, all a year apart. We lived on a 50-acre farm in Huntsburg, OH. Being the oldest and with no boys in the family, I changed my sister’s diapers, picked the crops, got the eggs out of the chicken coop at Sunrise before Mr. Fox got to them, & even helped my mom milk the goat.

After I got older (but still at a young age), I started doing the cooking, cleaning and babysitting. My parents both

worked, so I grew up pretty fast. Being a Caner (June 24th), I fell right into that caretaker role and having Aries rising, I was the strong one, the leader! I’ve always felt I didn’t have much of a childhood because I had to become an adult so fast, so young.

Well, some positives came out of that and negatives as well. The positives are that I’m fiercely independent and can survive independently. The negatives, I take on too much, I find I can’t let go of being the caretaker Momma Bear, and when I’m hitting rock-bottom, I feel “nobody needs me” because everyone feels “she’s so strong, & independent; she can do it all on her own.”  I have a NEWS FLASH for you:

We get to choose who we are! If we don’t, other people will decide for us. They’ll choose our careers, our partners, and where we “should” live. Thank God, there’s less of that going on than in ancient times. If you don’t make these choices, you’ll find yourself outsourcing your lives to the world around you.

who controls youOnce you grow up (age dependent), YOU can choose what to wear, what to eat, who to see, and what kind of career you’d like; so many of us fall prey to what society holds as acceptable, our parents, even our spouses. Social Media is turning us into the Stepford wives; we’re all walking around like robots, thinking we’ve got to have the latest Gucci purse or the hottest Jeep-Wrangler, and abs like the Hollywood Housewives. I still shop at Goodwills, Salvation Army & Resale shops. I buy what “I” like. I never understood what people see in those designer handbags; I think they’re ugly. Why someone would pay thousands of dollars for that is beyond my scope of thinking. Don’t be offended if you’re one of them; I don’t see the point.

Why do we care what “other” people think of us? Or what we wear? What if there was no Social Media or celebrities to tell us what’s in & what’s not? I heard baggy jeans are in for 2023 (I had to google a few things to write this blog because I’m so NOT hip to the late

st fads). You’ll never catch me in a pair of baggy jeans; I don’t care if they’re “IN” or not! For 2023, if WE don’t start thinking for ourselves and quit letting other people think for us, we’re headed down a life of becoming the next techno gadget walking down the street with batteries in our heads and someone controlling our thoughts. We may already be there; God, I hope not!

Start looking in the mirror again; click here if you forgot (Lousie Hay mirror work) and tell yourself, “I Love & Approve of YOU!” “I love & Approve of Myself.” “I love & approve of HER!”

Remember I told you to always do it in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd person. Take back your power! Start meditating & journaling for 2023, and find out WHO you are before someone else decides for you. PS I’d love to hear your feedback; what part of YOU are taking back for 2023? SCroll down & leave a comment!
