Soul Food-The MIRACLE in the Power of Surrender

Surrender is a complicated subject. It’s something you can’t force yourself to do, no matter how much you try. It’s something that one day, when you’ve cried enough, spent too many hours in emotional pain, lit a thousand or more candles, and wrote a letter to the Angels and everyone else under the Sun.

I’ve been there more than once, more than twice, more times than I care to count in my life. It’s a dark place when your heart aches so much that you feel a deep, intense pain in your chest, behind the breastbone, right where your heart is. Those who have experienced this fierce throbbing heartache know what I’m talking about.

About seven years ago or so was the last time I was able to spend time with my granddaughter. Then I moved back to Ohio for one reason, and one reason only, my granddaughter. So that I could be part of her life, she was excited beyond measure the day I arrived on her doorstep after driving in my car with my cat, Ziggy Starrdust, across the country from San Diego to move back to Ohio.

We both were looking forward to what the future held. Then something happened; the details are irrelevant, as in most stories like this. Through the many tough emotional lessons in my life, I’ve learned that the who, the what, and the where are seriously irrelevant when it comes to healing the Soul and the Heart. The only thing that matters is you prepare yourself for way too many dark nights of the Soul until the day comes when you finally surrender.

You surrender all the WHYs, the blame, the hurt, the pain, the history, the stories you’ve told; the list is endless. Then one day, it’s here. You surrender, and trust me, there are a lot of days and nights you “THINK” you’ve surrendered, only to find out something comes up that pushes another emotional button. Then you realize you honestly haven’t released all of the above.

Alas, the day arrives when the Miracle shows up, and then you thank your lucky stars because you realize you truly have surrendered.
