Soul Food-New Moon in Sagittarius/Santa Claus is Coming Early, But…
Wednesday, November 23rd, we have a New Moon at 1* Sagittarius occurring at 2:57pm/PST & 5:57/EST, conjuncting Venus (9* Sag) & Mercury (10* Sag). A few minutes later, Jupiter Stations Direct at 28* Pisces 47′.
New Moons are a time of beginnings, the ending of one cycle, and the beginning of another. Doors closing, Doors opening, reminds me of the song we used to sing in the Louise Hay groups I taught many moons ago. Sagittarius is the visionary, the philosopher, and the adventurer. The Centaur (half-man/half-horse) is the symbol for Sagittarius, which reminds me of Robinhood in the Disney movie.
From the last Full Moon, we’re being asked to question old habits and belief systems, letting go of what no longer serves who we are and who we are becoming. We’re ready to say goodbye and close those doors. No, I didn’t say to put your doorstop in it and leave it propped open enough, just in case. Are you all in or out?
The New Moon trine (favorable aspect) Jupiter is like Christmas in November – bringing you Santa’s gifts early. Spiritual growth, good tidings to all, and the three wise men bearing gifts of goodwill to men are the benevolence of Jupiter. Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, and with it, brings adventure, optimism, and long-distance journeys. Sagittarius/Jupiter also represents higher learning, such as Metaphysics and Theology. Legal and/or moral issues come to the forefront.
However, before you throw the baby out with the bath water, this New Moon is aligned with a fixed star, Scheat. I’m the eternal optimist, so I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but I want to remind you to turn on the flashing yellow/caution light. Don’t put the pedal to the metal and forge full steam ahead! Watch excessiveness, arrogance, and plain over-indulgences, especially related to food, drink, and gambling. Need I remind you “too much of a good thing ________” fill in the blank.
Mercury (Messenger of the Gods) and Venus (Goddess of Love/Beauty) form a conjunction (positive aspect) to this New Moon. Communication is easy-going, warm, and fuzzy. The mind melds nicely with the heart. This combo from the Heavens sprinkles its fairy dust on us, akin to the movie The Breakfast Club, where we socialize, recognize our similarities, and know life is good with friends. Your artistic side comes out, and maybe you’ll go to the museum to see the virtual Van Gogh exhibit.
Mercury, together with Venus, encourages working together to find solutions, Give Peace a Chance is the theme song. Slow down, and don’t move too fast; another star, Antares, puts a fly in the ointment. Again, I prefer to focus my energy on the positive, but I’m not going to ignore the chuckhole in the road when driving. Antares could cause one to become headstrong and react rashly, be aware.
