If you ever wondered why the dates of the Chinese New Year vary so much every year, it’s because it is associated with the moon. Just like Easter, and everything else is based on the placement and timing of the moon. The Chinese New Year is the second New Moon after the Winter Solstice. The event occurs this week January 27th, Friday, at 7:07pm/EST and 4:07pm/PST.
This phase of the Moon occurs at 8 degrees and 15 minutes of Aquarius, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 4 to 12 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
In a nutshell this Aquarian New Moon will bring these energies front and center:
- your social circles, groups & organizations, a good time to join a new group (I will be joining a Toastmaster’s group at this time)
- a time of detachment, remove yourself from the energies of the past and those thing that have a hold on you
- a time for thinking “outside the box” Aquarians are notorious radical, unconventional, creative, & ingenious thinkers (Darwin, Edison, Galileo, Lincoln, Bob Marley, & Oprah Winfrey)
- distance yourself from destructive habits & haunts from the past
- learn something NEW about someone or something (do some research) let the scientist/inventor in you come out
- make some progressive changes in your life
Now, for what TO DO to bring in good fortune and luck for the Chinese New Year :
- wear RED
- eat fish, mandarin oranges, tangerines, spring rolls, dumplings
- give Chinese red envelopes with coins/money
- smudge your place the night before
- set off firecrackers
What NOT to do:
- do not wash your hair
- clean or sweep your house
- loan or borrow money
- use sharp knives, needles or scissors
