Soul Food-Winter Solstice/New Moon/Jupiter in Aries
A lot is going in in the Celestial skies this week. First, today, at 1:48 pm/PST & 4:48 pm/EST, marks the official beginning of Winter, the Winter Solstice. It commemorates the start of the winter season and marks the Sun’s entry into Capricorn, the Goat. For more on Capricorns and its ruling planet Saturn (otherwise known as The Taskmaster & Father Time), check out my Holiday TV Show here.
Today’s Solstice has the Moon in Sagittarius, up against Mars in Gemini, which is still in Retrograde until January 12. That Sag moon is ready for an adventure around every corner, a word to the wise; watch your words, especially if you’ve had one too many Christmas martinis or you’ll be eating them.
The New Moon occurs a couple of days later on December 23, at 2:17 am/PST & 5:17 am/EST at 1* 32′ of Capricorn. This forms a challenging aspect with Jupiter, exercise self-control and use moderation, especially concerning matters of morality. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and exaggerates everything it touches, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
With the New Moon in Capricorn, you’ll need to take care of business first! I’m not trying to rain on your parade; it’s OK to have a partly sunny, glass-half-full type of optimism – – just don’t take on more than you can handle, and don’t overdo. Spend a little, leave some in the bank, get into the Christmas Spirit, but don’t have too many Holiday eggnogs.
Jupiter entered Aries yesterday, December 20; it’s all about action, taking the lead, and your independence. Go back to May 10, 2022, to October 28, 2022, the last transit of Jupiter in Aries, to get an idea of what to expect. For a more detailed article on Jupiter’s transit back to Aries, here’s a great article from Cafe Astrology.
