Soul Food-What I Learned About Life in the Middle of the Ocean
I took my daughter, Shayna, on a cruise to Alaska for her 16th birthday and my 50th in 2005. Seventeen years later, my daughter wanted to take me on a cruise because she felt she didn’t appreciate all I did for her by taking her on the cruise to Alaska. She had initially mentioned it to me when I moved back to Ohio in September 2016. As the years passed, I occasionally brought it up to her; if you’re still planning on taking me on that cruise someday, I would do it before I croak or before I’m too old to enjoy myself. Well, that time came, and we booked it last summer and went the last week of January (for those of you who may be wondering why you haven’t heard from me or why my voicemail box is full and my text messages weren’t being answered, no cell service)
We’re home now, and it was quite a trip! I mean that in all ways imaginable! We had our moments, some good, some not so good. Some were scary as hell, and some made us laugh so hard that I almost peed my pants. It wasn’t all roses, and sometimes I cried and yelled.
After all, was said and done, this is what I learned about life in the middle of the ocean. Watch the video below.
Blessings to You from Shayna & I

Glad you are back home. Hope you went somewhere warm. I went to Alaska in May 2005 with my mother. I was 40.

Carla, How synchronistic that you and your Mom went to Alaska in 2005! Yes, we did go somewhere warm, the Caribbean. Thanks for your comment; I always appreciate them. Blessings, Eva Starr
