For those of you on your spiritual journey, or who are former students or coaching clients of mine, your spiritual self-care isn’t news to you. However, we all could use a refresher course at times. I myself, have been reading and watching videos of Wayne Dyer talks, Deepak Chopra seminars, Louise Hay movies, etc. I have been keeping up with my meditation practice (which is the #1 thing recommended by all the spiritual authors, healers, doctors, gurus etc.)
I watched a recent interview (YouTube) with Deepak Chopra on one of the national morning shows. He stated that we are going through three crises right now:
- COVID-19
- ECONOMIC CRISIS
- STRESS – which compromises the immune system
The #1 method to help with the aforementioned three crisis Chopra recommends is breathing/meditation. It helps deal with all three at the same time. Your goal is to connect with your deeper awareness, the place where self-control and security comes from. Chopra recommends even a few seconds each day is moving you toward healing. Ask yourself meaningful questions, he says, “when you ask a question, the answer is already there within you, so that begins the journey!” Examples of questions we can ask:
- who am I?
- what do I want?
- what’s my purpose?
- what am I grateful for?
Reflection is more important than affirmations, it opens the door to understanding self, and the above questions. The environment is a reflection of our collective hysteria. Gratitude opens the door to abundance consciousness, the window to your soul, the highest feeling one can have, while also decreasing inflammation in the body. It triggers gene activity in a healthy direction.
The Universe , like any mirror, is neutral. It reflects back whatever is in front of it, without judgment or distortion. If you can trust that, then you have taken the crucial step of renunciation.
The superficial part of everyone gets involved in a crisis by staying glued to the news, attaching itself to worst case scenarios, and dwelling on the terrible things other people are going through. None of this behavior puts you in control. It does just the opposite by fueling fear, uncertainty, and insecurity. Looking at updates once a day is more than enough. The rest of the time, remain centered in yourself and keep doing the sensible thing. ~ Deepak Chopra
How to be on the side of healing:
Bad things happen to everyone. It is how you react that determines whether you come out healed or wounded. In all of us, the healing response is natural, innate, and powerful. More than the immune system is involved. Healing is a mind-body process. If you are sad, stressed, depressed, anxious, helpless, hopeless, panicky, or feel out of control, every cell in your body gets that message. ~ Chopra
How to give your life more meaning:
This is the most positive thing you can get out of the COVID-19 crisis and yet the least discussed. Life becomes more meaningful when you feel you have purpose, when you give of yourself in service, when you find resources of strength and resilience inside yourself, and when you discover who you really are. ~ Chopra
