Soul Food-New Moon/Chinese New Year/Numerology Plus Workshop

Tomorrow February 1st at 12:46am/EST (just after Midnight for us east coasters) and tonight January 31st, 9:46pm/PST for my west coast friends at 12* Aquarius. There are a few things going on here, this new moon forms a square (harsh aspect) to Uranus while forming a conjunct (think sewn together at the hip) to Saturn. While at the same time Venus (ruler of love & money) is forming a beautiful trine (beneficial aspect) to Uranus.

In laymen’s terms, New Moons are all about initiation, new beginnings, planting the seed, and opportunities. Uranus is the planet of out-of-the-blue sudden upsets or surprises, it wants to shake up your world. Think tornado, here today, gone tomorrow and you didn’t see it coming. Saturn is the task-master, Mr. Responsibility, perseverance, and all about learning the lesson. Venus, the romantic love, and also security, and your finances.

Imagine this, Aquarius New Moon shows up at the party, wearing a new futuristic outfit, excited about the innovative changes he/she is contemplating moving forward. Venus is sipping on a Cosmopolitan in the corner and catches your eye, and your romantic juices start flowing. Uranus shows up at the back door uninvited, nobody expected him/her to show up and he/she has their eye on Venus in the corner also.

Next thing you know there’s a showdown between the Aquarian moon and you, while Venus cashes in her chips and leaves with Mars, (and he wasn’t even at the party). Saturn is sitting in his leather chair observing all of this from his office window across the street. He has learned a few lessons on his path and has taken his time, and now decides to walk across the street and see if he can make some sense of what just happened at the party, and much like the turtle, he ends up winning the race.

Overall this new moon has some beneficial side effects, just as in Vegas, don’t lay it all on the line, be smart and remember the lessons you’ve learned on the path along the way. Remember to do your New Moon Abundance Check.

Herbs: Comfrey, Fennel, Rosemary, Violet

The Chinese New Year, the year of the Water Tiger is also this New Moon, it’s always the second new moon after the Winter Solstice. According to Chinese New Year lore, you want to have all your bills paid before the Lunar New Year, your hair washed & your house cleaned. You don’t want to wash away your luck (hair) or sweep your luck away (broom) on the actual Chinese New Year. They say to wear the color RED (a very auspicious color in China), on that day and eat certain foods.
