Soul Food-Mindful Monday/How to Balance Personal Growth/Looking for Capricorns/Rising, Sun, or Moon
I probably will keep changing the Monday blog to different therapeutic words that begin with “M” from time to time. Today I’m writing about the proverbial self-growth industry. Call it what you want, it has several names, personal growth, self-growth, transformational growth, mind, body & soul growth…and the list grows on (pun intended).
What I’ve come to find out is there are two types of people in the self-growth world. There are the ones that want you to fix a problem immediately like going to a doctor for a cold. You want it fixed, and you want it fixed yesterday! Ha LOL, those are probably the Aries people out there, and I can say that because I have Aries rising. We just want whatever you’re selling, and it better be guaranteed and fix me now. Sound familiar?
Then there’s the flip side of the coin, those of us who want to learn everything there is about being “better” in the personal growth arena. We attend all the seminars, read all the books, study the latest “trending personal growth” topic, and we’re on the endless journey of self-growth. That’s all fine and dandy, but the problem (if you want to call it that) is that there is NO prize. It’s not like going to an extremely expensive school, for half your life, studying non-stop crazy hours until you can’t keep your eyes open or your head up any longer to become a doctor or a lawyer.
Or on the other side of the spectrum, you learn tennis, or golf, or basketball straight out of the womb, and you become the GOAT (greatest of all time)! By the way, I just recently found out what that word means just a week or so ago. Again, you’re shooting to be the best of all time, and break every world record in that field.
Personal growth is different from the prior examples that I’ve given. The prize, (if you want to call it that) is the day you realize you’re enough. It’s good to keep working on improving yourself, while also remembering you will one day learn, that there is no “top.” If you’ve learned to deal with your procrastination, and think you’ve arrived or reached Nirvana, that’s all good and well. However, the day you realize you are OK and it’s OK to want to be your best self, but each day you’re already your best self, then my friend, you’ve arrived and can just start living life along the way.
I myself will still read, study, take tests and keep searching for the Goose that lays the Golden Egg, while having fun along the way and accepting myself the way I am. I will tell myself there’s no need to prove anything to me or you, but just keep enjoying my road to self-mastery.
I am back to doing my Reach for the Moon television show, (since Covid) and am looking for a Capricorn, (Sun, Moon, or Rising) that would be interested in being a guest on my next show. I will probably film on Thursday, Dec. 16th, If you’re interested shoot me an email or phone me (440-930-8865).
PS I will start lining up guests for the Aquarius, and Aries shows soon (already have the Pisces covered.)
