If you’re like me and an undetermined number of souls, we work hard at learning to let go and let God (the Universe, your Higher Power, call it what you want). However, if you’re like the rest of the world you probably work pretty hard at trying to:
- control everything & everyone
- have a “TO DO” list a mile long
- strive for perfection in everything (and everyone)
- spend more time stressing out than meditating within
- are more concerned about keeping up with the Jones’ and what other people think
OK, so we may have a few from that list as well…
My birthday is this coming Sunday, June 24th, and for those of you who know me I absolutely LOVE my birthdays!!! I love everything about it, celebrating life, and a brand-new year…
This year as I do every year I have a bucket list, (LOL) I’m laughing because it’s different than God’s…
Here’s how my list went in the last year or so:
- moved back to Ohio to be a part of my grand-daughter’s life (that wasn’t on God’s list)
- planned a trip to Ft. Myers in September to spend time with my Dad (Hurricane Katrina had other ideas)
- rescheduled the trip in February to spend time with Dad before he visits the Pearly Gates (ended up spending time getting a glimpse of those Pearly Gates myself, nine days in the hospital with Pancreatitis)
- thought I’d try dating again, on Shayna’s insistence she put me on the personals (that lasted 3 dates, not in God’s plan, I think he wants me to be a Nun)
- thought it would be FUN having wine tastings in my home again (Dr.’s orders NO alcohol) …we’re taking that one back to the table
I think you get the idea…there’s YOUR plans and then there’s GOD’S plans…
So, here’s my Bucket List for this year:
- Trust God
- Let go
- Give up control
- REPEAT
- Trust God
- Let go
- Give up control
- REPEAT
Here’s a few tips on how to hand over the reins:
- realize you can’t do it alone, and embrace your vulnerability
- be love, come from a place of love, realize love is the answer not hate
- quit being the Micromanager of your life…you DO NOT know what the next five minutes will hold, be open to the unknown
- watch and observe nature…did you ever hear a daffodil bitch about how hard it is coming through that soil?
- be GRATEFUL…whatever you constantly think about brings more of the same to think about
- spend more time on meditation and enlightenment instead of your “TO DO” list
- listen to your inner GPS, your intuition, instead of other people
- notice the small synchronicities, accept the tiny moments of grace in your life…
- look at the world through different lenses, releasing the fear releases the need to control
I have a whole ‘nother year to give this “letting go” thing a shot…
I love you, Happy Birthday to me, I’ll be thinking of all of you…as I enjoy my favorite day of the year…
