SOUL FOOD-Hold onto your Hats, Lunar Eclipse/Mercury Retrograde
The March winds are blowing, and I’m not just discussing the weather. On March 14, a significant astrological event, the Lunar Eclipse at 23° Virgo, will occur. This Full Moon with Virgo opposing the Sun in Pisces will occur at 2:55 AM EDT and for our West Coast friends at 11:55 PM PDT the evening before. The following day, on the 15th, another crucial event, Mercury turns Retrograde. This Retrograde will occur At 9° Aries at 2:46 AM EDT and for my West Coast friends at 11:46 PM PDT the evening before. It’s a weekend filled with astrological significance that will undoubtedly impact our lives.
Factoids about Eclipses: During the total Lunar Eclipse, the Moon overpasses the Earth’s shadow, dimming the Moon, then crafting a reddish hue from the reflection of sunlight on the Earth’s atmosphere, called a “Blood Moon.” The Lunar axis of the Moon determines the signs the lunation is in. The Karmic North Node of Destiny is in Pisces, and the South Node of Destiny has been in Virgo since January 11. So, Lunar Eclipses will appear in the signs of Pisces and Virgo for the next year and a half. (credit Lisa Stardust)
The Virgo Moon of the Eclipse is on the South Node of Destiny; as mentioned earlier, this is a time for releasing, as with all Full Moons. As we know, the Eclipses are more potent than your monthly Full Moon. Virgo is usually detailed and critical to a fault. This Lunar Eclipse with the South Node sitting on Virgo asks us to chill; don’t take everything so seriously.
As we approach Mercury’s upcoming Retrograde, which affects all types of communication, including planes, trains, and automobiles, besides the human mouth, it’s crucial to be extra cautious. Occurring in the sign of Aries and with Venus, the planet of love and money, already retrograde in Aries, this period demands heightened vigilance in all forms of communication and decision-making.
Neptune, the fluid, illusory planet of deception, ruled by Poseidon, God of the Sea, is opposed to the Lunar Moon. Think back to Jonestown; we want to avoid the Kool-Aid at all costs. Clean those rose-colored glasses with a double-duty lens cleaner. You’re better off taking them off completely. Do not be deceived by what you see appearing real. Edgar Allan Poe once said, “Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.”
With this Full Moon occurring so close to the Mercury Retrograde in Aries, I am pleading with you: this is a double whammy: don’t believe everything you hear or see! It’s crucial to exercise caution and not take things at face value during these astrological transitions.
This time is best utilized in silence, embracing a meditative spiritual retreat in the comfort of your home. If it were me, I would postpone all decisions until after mid-April. We are still amid a Venus Retrograde and the beginning of a Mercury Retrograde. I had previously advised in a blog to complete critical tasks before the end of February. Remember, it’s OK to take a step back and reflect. This is a time to slow down, listen to your inner voice, and let the Universe guide you.
For those of you who still haven’t done your taxes, wait until close to the deadline, or better yet, see if you can get an extension. The Universe and the Celestial Heavens beg us to S-L-O-W D-O-W-N and let go. It’s OK to crawl down the rabbit hole if you must. However, remember what goes down must come up. You will have to deal with all of this at some point.
Eventually, Eclipses bring up parts of our lives hidden in those closets, fearing that everything will pop out like the old jack-in-the-box one day. You can run but can’t hide; these are the issues that the Eclipses will bring up for each of us. These are issues that have been swept under the carpet for more than I care to think about.
With Venus in the sign of Aries Retrograde, it’s a call to action to reevaluate how we manage our finances, relationships, love lives, and affairs. If you haven’t been honest in any of these areas, it’s time to confront the past. Although it may feel like you’re dredging up a box of bones from the ocean floor, dealing with your past skeletons is an opportunity. It’s a chance to turn what seems like a burden into a treasure. It is an opportunity to unearth buried treasure and make positive changes in your life.
You will have to deal with it eventually; remember, this is the first Eclipse in a series of four happening over the next year and a half to two. Days to note on your calendar besides the 14th and 15th of the Lunar Eclipse and when Mercury goes Retrograde: Starr Blogs
- March 27 through April 1, Venus and Neptune will activate the Eclipse point in the sign of Pisces.
- April 7, Mercury will (thank God) turn direct, now in the sign of Pisces. Those who follow my blog know there is a shadow period before and after. However, after the 7th, this will give us some direction.
- April 10, Mercury and the North Node will conjoin in Pisces, forcing us to clarify what we’ve been avoiding.
- April 12, Venus goes direct now in the sign of Pisces.
To better understand what part of your life the Eclipse will affect, look at your chart and find out where Virgo and Pisces are. They will be opposing each other.
