Soul Food-Hold on to your Hats/Full Moon & MORE!

Mercury, Messenger of the Gods, entered Scorpio yesterday, Monday, October 6th, earlier in the day, 12:41 pm/EDT & 9:41 am for my West Coast friends. I’ve been a bit behind with my blogs. Trust me, I wish I hadn’t been riding the Demon Drop for the last few months; it’s been a hell of a ride, and one I don’t care to get back on anytime soon.

This occurred before the beautiful Full Moon, last evening at 11:48 pm, & 8:48 pm for my West Coasters. We’ll get to that in a bit.

I’m not going to sugarcoat this, because Scorpio doesn’t sugarcoat a damn thing! Most of you know that I took in my granddaughter, Rosie, about 2 ½ years ago now. She is a double Scorpio, Sun/Rising sign, need I say more? I’ve got plenty of duct tape around, not for her, for ME – so in case I forget to bite my tongue, duct tape will remind me.

Let me lay it out for you:

  • Mercury is everything communication, words, letters, emails, texts, FB, planes, trains, and automobiles.
  • Scorpio is dark, mysterious, secretive, revengeful, passionate, bat-cave, vampirish, the stinger

Put those two together, and you have a witch’s brew of poison, if I ever tasted one. Now it’s not all skeletons, and eye of newt, and flying bats. You can look at the bright side and decide to go deeper, deeper than you dared tread before, tackling those files that are all over your living room (I raise my hand). Anything that you’ve had on the back burner that needs in-depth research, or searching for your Aunt Zora’s locket that she gave you for your 21st birthday, that you can’t find to save your life.

Or it might be time to have that deep “conversation” with your significant other, a true deep-down, no-holds-barred. I would pass on that one. I’ve already had a few conversational blow-ups in the last 48 hours with a couple of different people, and Mercury’s barely put its pinky toe in Scorpio.

This brings me to the Full Moon in Aries/opposing the Sun in Libra. Not to worry, it hasn’t even been 24 hours yet, and we have a 3-day window with any Moon rituals. This Full Moon occurs at 14* Aries, so if you have any planets at that degree, particularly Cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, pay attention. Mercury is forming a square to Pluto, the God of the Underworld. I wouldn’t want to mess with him either.

This Full Moon shines the light on what is hidden for all to see. The Moon represents home and family, and its placement in Aries signifies freedom, courage, and forging a new path. This could be the moment you’ve broken free from those chains that bind you. With the Sun in Libra, romance and relationships. I can hear Ray Charles in the background singing “Unchain My Heart’ (1961); then Joe Cocker takes the stage, and says Step aside, Ray, (1987)

Remember, the cauldron may be bubbling, but this is also a time of transformation. The challenges you’re facing now are paving the way for positive change. So, take a deep breath and trust that by the time you read this, the storm may have already passed, leaving behind a fresh, new beginning.

You may have heard me mention Mercury 1* Scorpio, which squares Pluto 1* Aquarius, which occurred this morning (Tuesday, October 7th) at 10:41 am EDT & 7:41 am PDT. This has been approaching for a while; Pluto transits last for twenty-some years, give or take a few.  Mercury will gladly introduce you to those skeletons, gathering dust in the basement, that come up for air in your nighttime dreams. I can vouch for this one! I’ve had nightmares for almost three nights in a row, and I usually don’t have them.

That brings another tune into my head, Mick Jagger’s Sympathy for the Devil (1986) – “Please allow me to introduce myself…” and introduce themselves they will. No need to be scared, open your chest. walk right up to him/her and stare it straight in the face, and say, “You talkin’ to me?” Robert DeNiro, Taxi Driver (1976)

However, I always like to end on a good note. Rosei & I play this little game every day when she comes home from school: “High-Low.” I ask her how her day went, and I always ask her to give me the “LOW” first so we can end on a high note. Venus, (Morning/Evening Star), 23* Virgo, is sextiling (favorable aspect) Jupiter, 23* Cancer, (Santa Claus of the Zodiac), Wednesday, October 8th at 7:41 am/EDT & 4:41 am/PDT. That Aries Full Moon gives you the courage, and early Wednesday morning, the Moon moves into Venus-ruled Taurus, climb that ladder to the Stars, ask for what you want from the almighty Universe, and you just might find yourself singing “Do You Believe in Magic?” The Lovin’ Spoonful (1965).

We do end the week on Saturday, October 11th, with a Venus 27* Virgo/Saturn 27* Pisces opposition. Saturn is known as the “Lesson Maker,” the “Task Master,” and “Father Time.” This gives us a chance to look at our relationships, have serious conversations about what we are or are not committed to, and also look at our finances (Venus rules Love & Money), ask ourselves if we are committed and disciplined enough, and have the patience to carry through to see our relationships blossom in the long haul.

Last but not least, all week, say this to yourself and out loud, “I am releasing, and letting go of what no longer serves who I am and who I am becoming.” I might burn a “RED” candle (Aries Moon) and let go, baby, and make way for “FREEDOM.”

Now that I’ve taken you down memory lane of music and movies in relation to the planets. Have a great week! If my blog has inspired you, feel free to drop a tip in the Tip Jar on my website’s blog page.

Rosie & I send our Autumn Blessings.
