Chicken or Eagle? the Choice is Yours for 2015

January 12, 2015by Eva Starr0

Happy New Year everyone, I’ve been busy cooking these past Holidays for the homeless and the Veterans at work and haven’t forgotten about you. As I’ve been pondering my goals/decisions for this coming year I’ve decided it’s time to up my game and raise my vibratory level.

eagle_chickenI would like to share with you this story by Anthony De Mello:

A man found an eagle’s egg and put it in a nest of a barnyard hen. The eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them.

All his life the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a barnyard chicken. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. And he would thrash his wings and fly a few feet into the air.

Years passed and the eagle grew very old. One day he saw a magnificent bird above him in the cloudless sky. It glided in graceful majesty among the powerful wind currents, with scarcely a beat of its strong golden wings.

The old eagle looked up in awe. “Who’s that?” he asked.

“That’s the eagle, the king of the birds,” said his neighbor. “He belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth—we’re chickens.”

So the eagle lived and died a chicken, for that’s what he thought he was.

When you think of a chicken what comes to mind? For me it’s someone who is scared to take risks, it’s someone who follows the crowd not knowing where they’re going or why. They live in a coop, they’re content to scratch in the dirt with their eyes to the ground like the rest of the crowd.

On the other hand what comes to mind when you think of an eagle? They soar high above the skies and have a broader perspective on the earth below. With it’s enormous wing span, and it’s powerful claws it’s a bird of great beauty and strength. The eagle mates for life and takes great pride to provide and protect his family. His focus is on what he’s destined to do, without worrying about what’s below.

When faced with danger the chicken flaps it’s wings in a flurry, squawking and cackling like Chicken Little. However, the eagle will fly into the violence of a storm. He uses the pressure of the storm to soar higher without using his own energy.

Think about what in your life is at the vibratory level you want to resonate with. Then think of the things, jobs, places, and people who vibrate at a lower frequency than the one you want to transmit from. More on how to raise your frequency next week. In the meantime, digest these words this week, make yourself a list, and make a choice…
