Soul Food-New Moon Begs the Question…
New Moon, 5:25 am/PDT and 8:25 am/EDT at 28* Libra.
Today’s New Moon in Libra, a significant event ruled by Venus, which also governs Taurus, occurred at a crucial moment-right at a Void-of-Course Moon. This is a rare occurrence that holds profound astrological significance. The void-of-Course is when the Moon makes its last aspect to a significant planet before it enters the next Moon sign. Today’s VOC lasted a little over three hours before the Moon entered Scorpio at 11:42 am.
Venus, a planet of unique influence, is one of two planets that preside over a co-rulership. The other being Mercury, co-rules Gemini and Virgo. This co-rulership adds a layer of complexity and depth to our understanding of these signs and their influence on our lives. Why does this matter? Because when we think of the planet Venus, which rules Taurus, which has reign over the 2nd house in Astrology and our security, assets, and our value system. (Think of the Taurus people you know.)
The other half of the Venus rulership is Libra, reigning over the 7th house of partnerships, both business and personal. The 7th house also influences legal matters and open enemies. Libra natives tend to always be in some sort of partnership; they prefer the company of others rather than being alone. The polar opposite of Libra is Aries (I have Aries rising); the rising sign takes rulership over the personality and how other people see you when you walk into a room. I can speak to this. Aries people have a competitive drive; they want to be first. They are born leaders. We may have a fiery nature and prefer our independence, enjoying solitude over a room filled with strangers.
This New Moon is square (harsh aspect) Pluto, God of the Underworld. When you think of the New Moon, it’s not the warm and fuzzy New Moon, as in Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed in It’s a Wonderful Life. It’s more Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy (Patrick Bergin). If that’s not enough to make you sleep with your eyes open, the very next day, the Sun enters Scorpio. Think Natalie Portman in Black Swan.
I’m laying this all out for you to activate your Soul searching in your own lives. This New Moon prompts us to delve deep into our relationships, both with others and with ourselves. It challenges us to confront our fears and insecurities, and to be brave enough to reveal our true selves, rather than hiding behind a facade.
On the same day, the Sun enters Scorpio, and Neptune, which has been in its Retrograde mode in Aries, crosses back into the illusory waters of Pisces. Is this all an illusion? Or are we deluding ourselves?
This New Moon begs us to take off those rose-colored glasses and search deep into the clouded waters of our Souls to find clarity. It’s time to open the closets and let the skeletons out, if you dare.
Be brave, authentic is the only way to be. As mentioned earlier, the polar opposite of Libra is Aries. Aries will give you the courage to stand up and sing to the world, “I Want to be Free” ~ Queen.
I believe in you; you can do this. You have a 3-day window for your New Moon ritual.
