Soul Food- 10 Things in Life you Should Never Ever Do/May Starr Scopes are here

    1. Never ever say “I can’t” or “I should.” I should leaves you running down a dead-end street with nowhere to go. Change your shoulds to coulds. (see my book)
    2. Never compare yourself to others (thanks to my friend from Nashville for the reminder). Comparing yourself to others it’s like taking an open wound and rubbing salt in it. Facebook is infamous for making one feel they can’t keep up with the Kardashians. You are you and you are unique and you do “YOU” better than anybody. When life gets you down and you feel like everybody else is getting to the top of the mountain before you even started the climb, just remember to be grateful for all the things you have accomplished, and I’m sure the list is long.
    3. Never depend on others for your happiness, this is about as deadly as number two. Be your own best friend, go places on your own, spend time with yourself. I happen to enjoy my own company, and it’s a pretty damn good thing I do, because I’ve been flying solo for half of my life. now. Depending on others to make you happy, to entertain you, to make you feel better about yourself is a recipe for heartache, love the person in the mirror.
    4. Never ever take anything for granted. I first learned this lesson from my dad when I was a teenager. I had my second or third job and he told me “remember no matter where you work or where you are in life you are always replaceable, don’t ever think that you’re indispensable!” My dad was right, that happened to me at a very early age and I’m glad it happened early in life because I never forgot that lesson.
    5. Never beat yourself up over your mistakes. Mistakes bring blessings, they give you the wherewithal to figure out how to keep going, and how to make it right. Just look at Disney, Einstein, Henry Ford, Steve Jobs, or the Wright Brothers to name a few…
    6. Never blame others. This one bears repeating, don’t blame others for your lot in life. Your life is YOUR life, and you created it. Regardless of your childhood, regardless of your circumstances. If your life is fantastic and everything is going great of course you take credit for it. When your life is in the bottom of the barrel and everything is turned to **** then you blame everything and everyone else. It’s your life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. YOU created it – so don’t blame others.
    7. Never be more concerned about things than people or nature. Things can’t hold your hand and give you a hug when you’re having a bad day. Things can’t rush you to the ER when you feel like you’re going to die and you don’t know what’s happening to you. (Trust me on this one it’s happened twice in my life.) When you look back on your life; it’s never the things that brought you peace, love, happiness, or contentment. It’s the people in your life and the moments you shared that you remember.
    8. Never forget your moral code. Be true to yourself. This one doesn’t need a lot of explanation. You know your own moral code. You know your own ethics. You know what you believe to be right and wrong. You know what makes you feel like you’re a decent good human being who cares about others and the planet. Don’t try to lie to yourself at times when you decide to push the envelope and forget your moral code.
    9. Never hold on to hurts from the past. Life is fleeting, here today, gone in an instant. Take it from someone who knows. Don’t go to sleep with angry words, when the sun rises the next day that person could be gone (and on to the afterlife).
    10. Never ever start a phrase off by saying “I’m never going to blank blank blank again. Trust me on this one, I’ve done it too many times in my life. Whatever you say never again two, you end up doing it, sometimes three, four, five or six more times. So never ever say never!
